Yo-Yo Ma, the world’s greatest cellist. And Kathryn Stott, a versatile and respected pianist who has been performing with him for over 30 years. The duo will hold “Yo-Yo Ma & Kathryn Stott Duo Recital 2023,” their 14th visit to Japan in two years, in October 2023 in five cities across Japan: Nagoya, Kyoto, Tokorozawa, Tokyo, and Fukuoka.
Yo-Yo Ma, a United Nations Peace Artist, has always encouraged people, including performing at the corona vaccination site in March 2021. In 2018, he launched the Bach Project to perform J. S. Bach’s unaccompanied suites in 36 locations around the world. Positioning music as a deep and intimate social communication tool, Yo-Yo Ma held a performance at the Okinawa Arena in November 2021. Despite being held at the corona disaster, the concert successfully drew approximately 5,000 people, an unprecedented number for a classical artist.
In 2021, he was also awarded the Praemium Imperiale in commemoration of His Imperial Highness Prince Takamatsu (organized by the Japan Art Association), adding to his maturity. And he is expected to be even more active.
